Trading platforms compute max drawdown from the closed-trade balance: a staircase that moves only when a trade closes and shows nothing while one is open. Real MDD rebuilds the path between the steps from your own trade log and OHLC price data, so the deepest point your account actually reached is measured instead of skipped.
Max drawdown is a reference for the limit of a risk structure: how deep an account traded this way has really been. Real MDD describes a past path. It measures and explains the measurement; it does not predict, grade or advise.
The result can only be as fine as the price data you supply. The tool cannot see inside a bar, so for every bar a position was open it assumes the worst price of that bar was touched. Coarser data gives a more pessimistic number, not a smaller one.
Everything runs in your browser: no account, no upload, no server that receives your trade log. Loading files and computing make no network request, which you can check in your browser's developer tools. The optional AI commentary is the one exception: when you turn it on with your own API key, a condensed summary of the results, not the trade log, goes straight from your browser to the provider you chose. The key stays in memory and is gone when the tab closes.
